Better late than never...

I've been out for a few days - had a quick trip to the hospital - but don't think I didn't think this week was a big deal. I'm very excited about what the next few months have to offer. I've had no shame in my trust in Obama, and now I'm just sitting back and watching everything with a smile. He's already starting to kick ass and take names and this is only his 3rd day in office. I know that BO had a lot of hype around his campaign and inauguration, but honestly believe that he will produce results to match. No, maybe he won't fix the economy before summer. Maybe he won't put a man on Mars, but there are plenty of problems both foreign and domestic that need 'FIXED' and need fixed right now. We need to get back to our roots. The basics that this country was founded on, because we're getting away from it with our xenophobia and distrust of each other. Obama knows the founding documents better than most, I think he'll fix most of the blatantly un-American policies of the Bush Administration. The roads were being paved to become a police state (with good intentions, but the road to hell is paved the same way) and I hope to God that President Obama puts up a roadblock.

More Anathallo

anathallo.  still one of the top 5 best live shows I've ever seen.  because of stuff like this.  Wait through the quiet buildup and japanese poetry.  The bass drummer and floor tom guy are both playing a really complicated rythem in perfect sync.  1:29 is especially cool....

This next song isn't the best quality audio, but its a great portrayal of the band. Dynamic doesn't quite do it justice. Library-quiet intros, huge crecendos...

If you've got the patience, watch this video. My favorite part starts at 4:40 - look how into it the entire band is (all 8 of them) especially at the "who could imagine a holiday (A HOLIDAY!) at the sea!" part.

Love Lockdown

Learning hip-hop songs is a rariety for me.  But this song kicks ass and struck a personal 'chord' for me.  Now all I need is a vocoder....

Scrubs is back!

One of my favorite shows "Scrubs" is back on TV. Its on ABC now, and the best part is - ITS GOOD AGAIN! The last season on NBC was really... weak, I guess. Like it was going through the motions. Like they knew they were just waiting for their new station and new life. Which they probably were.
A few things about the new season:
-It was darker than the other seasons. Not like darker moods or themes, but the actual lighting used on the set was less, giving everything more of a shadow. The old Sacred Heart hospital was very bright.
-Its obvious that Zach Braff cares again. Every quirk and weird face was delivered with the energy of the old JD, but with a new JD twist. I'm thinking of when Turk mentioned that the blunt intern should be named Jo. JD said that just wouldn't work, but then walked away with the 'I'm SO using that name' look on his face. He does that look a lot, but this one was funnier than usual.
-Ted was always funny, but this episode was one of his best. He got to do his singing thing, and his depressive thing, too. Ted's character made me laugh out loud twice that episode. "Ted, all you've got in [your briefcase] is a smiley face button and a revolver."
"Yeah, one's in case I get sad and the other is in case I get really sad."
-I'm not happy about the fate of Janitor. That better not be the last we see of him. I like that the new chief of medicine asked him what his name was, checked his badge, and it said "The Janitor." I still like when he went a school's 'job day' as a doctor and said his name was Dr. Jan Itor.
-The Indian intern (who's in some other movie I can't put my finger on) who's a trend starter. I'm not sure how I feel about him just yet. I started off not liking him. But he grew on me. Jury's still out.

Scrubs is now Tuesday nights on ABC at 8pm CST.

New Band Interest

So I'm into this new band (to me) from Austin, TX - Ghostland Observatory. A video is linked to their album art to the right over there -->

The video is exactly how I was introduced to the band. Instantly - its obvious that this band is, most of all, weird. They've got on... costumes? The one dude has a cape on; a serious cape at that. The other dude is a... what? a hippie? Then the second big theme is this: These guys are doing something different, but they're doing it as hard as they can. They are selling it. And you can't help but getting into it too. That's when the 3rd and final bullet point for this band hits you - ...Its freaking awesome. *Sigh* ...like, really awesome. Capeman (Thomas Turner) is playing several synths at once, with multiple loops going along with a digital drum kit. Live. The singer (Aaron Behrens) is not only singing, but dancing. And playing the guitar.

You've got to admit that its a fun club/punk/hair-band/electronica sound... you just don't get enough club/punk/hair-band/electronica these days.

Radio play

Thanks to a quick tip-off, I heard Cashes Rivers on the radio for the first time today.  The song was "Do We Play Favorites?"  The DJ mentioned that we were from Des Moines, IA and that the song was off of our debut album the trees will clap for us...   Awesome.   So I figured it was a local spotlight show or something.  No, our lead in song was The Killers.  Here's the playlist for the night we were played.  Crazy.  And we're on a lot of this stations playlists.  Looks like we get played a bit on this station.  Here's where they played When It Rains.  And Hope Ropes Me In.   And Beep, Beep.   And the first song they played was Atoms.
