Roald Dahl

I saw today on Google that today is Roald Dahl's birthday. Growing up with a mother who's a reading teacher, all 3 of us kids were raised with his children's stories. I remember his books better than all the other children's books in our expansive library of literature in the house. Some of my personal favorites include:
Danny Champion of the World
The BFG
The Twits
James and the Giant Peach
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Matilda
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I found it pretty interesting to read his Wikipedia write up. He had a pretty crazy life. I laughed out loud when I saw that the man who'd written James and the Giant Peach also had written several short stories published in Playboy. Who would've thought?

The BFG is one of my favorite books to read. But Fantastic Mr. Fox is a riot too. Those days reading to you guys are some of my favorite moments in life. :)

Danny the Champion of the World and the Fantastic Mr. Fox and my faves. Totally superb.

I read a few chapters of Danny to stoppable's kids a while back and was reminded how wonderful the story.

Reading aloud is one of the things i love the most. Doing it and hearing it.

1. F.M.Fox is my #1 with Peach close behind.

2. Playboy often runs mainstream literature (allegedly) I'm guessing his stories were of the G-rated variety.

3. You should check out Roddy Doyle as a contrast to Dahl's style. Not kids lit, but similar humor style.
