Boy Scout stops Assassination

"Boy Scout Mohamed Jaisham Ibrahim is being hailed as a hero in the Maldives after he stopped a many with a knife from killing President Abdul Gayoom."
----
I was in Boy Scouts for a while, and we never covered this. I never got my How to Stop a Knife Attack badge.

as I like to tell people/students/Ycampers...

"Be Prepared, it's the Boy Scout motto!"

even though I was never in any level of scouts and have a few concerns about their stance on homosexuality.

this 16 year old hero definitely WAS prepared!

This is a great story - I thought about giving this kid the Marrow award for January (since the Maldives is having to 'debate' whether his action is worth any govt. honor?).

Also, I was perturbed by the comment "he complained that he couldn't move some of his fingers" in both articles I read on this. What kind of attitude is that? Who are these people? 'hey thanks for the rescue, sorry you split your hand in half, here's a palm frond and some bailing twine.'.... 'whadda mean your fingers won't move?' ... 'oh, alright we'll airlift you to the hospital.'

I too was in the Boy Scouts... but only for a week or two. So we only covered homophobia and evading sniper attacks.

Odd that there was two groups learning to evade snipers. The boys who were into sports learned to find cover and use covering fire, the boys who were into dolls were taught to stand out in the open. Strange.

My only memory of Boy Scouts was lip synching to a Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles rap song, and Wes Benedict giving some some badge or another.
