when i was spending my working days at the organization that you are now, my dept was even more nebulous and lacking in solid definition of purpose and role. we changed titles from liasons, to subject matter experts, to process management analysts, etc. it got to the point when people would ask what we did in my dept, i would just answer, "i can't tell you." or "joint projects, special ops" with a straight face. people didn't know how to take that one.
This is a HILARIOUS cartoon showing the different roles (and how they view each others contributions). I keep this for a good laugh every time I think back on my time in project management.
