I had a pretty funny conversation last night... People wanted ideas for an anti-Valentine's Day t-shirt. One had a cupid on it. (You know - the naked infant with the bow?) I said that a funny caption might be "Babies are stupid." After the initial chuckles, someone said, "But babies aren't stupid." Then we had a solid 10 minute debate on whether or not babies are, in fact, stupid. They said that it wasn't fair to label a baby as 'stupid' as they don't know any better. I said, "Exactly - babies don't know shit." They said that wasn't fair, because they hadn't had a chance to learn anything yet. I replied "True - that's why I didn't say 'babies are idiots' or 'babies are morons.' Because its not their fault. They just don't know anything and have zero focus." So they had me look up 'stupid' in a dictionary: "lacking intellectual acuity" I thought that that was exactly what I was saying....
Honestly, it was just hilarious to be debating whether or not babies are stupid.
*edit* (I'm not trying to be mean to babies - I was just arguing the definition of 'stupid.' Disambiguating the word from the negative connotation that goes with it so often.)
